I met with the diagnostician that we’ve been working with for the past year and half yesterday just to go over some of my observations since our last meeting. As we sat on the floor of the play room talking Ethan got to run around and play. Every few minutes Ethan would come and check in with me and give me a hug, but it took about 45 minuets for him to pay her any attention. Ethan didn’t even look towards her until she called attention to herself. As we were talking she said gave me a few things to work on, one of them being an minimum of 25 hours a week of interaction. I think that’s going to be the hard thing for us. How do you get in 5 hours a day of interaction, when you have a child who doesn’t want to interact. Ethan is so happy just sitting and playing by himself and will freak out when I try and get him to play with me.
We have our 2 year old appointment next week with his pediatrician and I’m going to ask her if she thinks we need to look at physical therapy because of the way he’s walking.
He’s currently fixated on the Wheels on the Bus app on Daddy’s phone. i hear Buuuus? all the time. That and he’s back on cars and wheels. He now has to have a car in his hand all the time. It’s cute but concerning.
So again we’re dealing with is it ASD or a development delay?
